Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – The Eugene City Council has joined cities such as Seattle, Portland and San Francisco in approving a mandatory sick leave law. The ordinance passed yesterday requires employers to provide workers with one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours work, up to a maximum of 40 hours a year.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – University of Oregon police have found three of the four members of the Ethiopian track team who were reported missing from the World Junior Championships in Eugene last weekend. The Oregonian reports that police found the three athletes staying with friends in Beaverton. Police say an 18-year-old woman is still being treated as a missing person, although police say they don’t believe she’s in danger.

ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) – A longtime advocate for increased logging on federal lands that provide subsidies to counties in western Oregon is retiring from public office – but not from the struggle over timber harvests. Doug Robertson has been a Douglas County commissioner for 33 years. For 20 years he’s led the Association of O&C Counties, which wants to increase timber harvests and bring in subsidies to western Oregon counties.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – Tribal officials haven’t given up on the idea of an auto racing complex on the Warm Springs reservation in Central Oregon. The Bend Bulletin reports the question has been subject to three votes by members of the Confederated Tribes, the most recent July 2. Turnout has been too low each time for the measure to win approval.
