BOARDMAN, Ore. (AP) – Oregon’s largest coal-burning power plant is expected to shut down in a few years, but that doesn’t mean coal is dead. Under a plan by an Australian energy conglomerate, coal being shipped to the Boardman Coal Plant will instead be exported to Asia, where pollution will still spew into the earth’s atmosphere.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon Health & Science University says its drive to match Nike co-founder Phil Knight’s challenge for cancer research has gotten a $100 million boost. OHSU officials said a gift from a donor who asked to remain anonymous puts the campaign over the $400 million mark. Last year, Knight offered $500 million to OHSU if it could raise an equal amount by Feb. 4, 2016.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Portland woman was arrested after police say she left the scene of a fatal crash in Tillamook County on Sunday. Oregon State Police say 45-year-old Trisha Homan was booked into jail Sunday. Witnesses told investigators Homan and the driver of a Chrysler Sebring “were involved in road rage behavior” on Highway 6.

ALBANY, Ore. (AP) – A dog that apparently wandered lost in the woods for 22 days has been reunited with her owners. Linn County Sheriff Bruce Riley says that a family out for a hike in the Cascadia area found a weak and hungry Bullmastiff in steep terrain. The family had hiked out to call the sheriff’s office for help Saturday night, and hiked back to stay with the dog.
