Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

SEATTLE (AP) – Sonny Gray limited the Seattle Mariners to six hits and one unearned run and the Oakland Athletics earned a 4-1 victory yesterday. Gray earned his 10th victory and Sean Doolittle recorded the final four outs for his 14th save. Seattle squandered an opportunity to add to its lead in the fourth inning. Robinson Cano (kan-OH’) and Kyle Seager singled to put runners on the corners with no outs. Gray worked out of the jam leaving the runners stranded.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Maya Moore scored 26 points yesterday to lead the Minnesota Lynx to a 77-60 victory over the Seattle Storm. Janel McCarville scored 13 points for the Lynx. Camille Little led Seattle with 17 points. The Storm have lost four of six.

SEATTLE (AP) – Clint Dempsey scored for Seattle off a wild scramble in the 71st minute in his return to Major League Soccer after the World Cup, and the Sounders beat rival Portland 2-0 last night. Dempsey and Obafemi Martins were both denied by Portland goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts earlier in the sequence. The ball eventually landed at the feet of Gonzalo Pineda and his diagonal pass found Dempsey open in front of the net.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) – Erick Torres scored the tiebreaking goal in the 81st minute to lead Chivas USA past the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 Saturday night. Agustin Pelletieri and Leandro Barrera also scored for Chivas. Carlyle Mitchell had the only goal for Vancouver, which played a man down after defender Jordan Harvey was shown a red card for a two-footed challenge.
