SEATTLE (AP) – Kendrys Morales had a two-run double in the fifth inning to help Minnesota Twins rookie right-hander Yohan Pino earn his first major league victory, 4-2 over the Seattle Mariners last night. Morales, who played for the Mariners last season, came up with two outs and runners on first and second. Tom Wilhelmsen (1-2) made his first major league start after 191 relief appearances for the Mariners.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Free agent center Chris Kaman has signed a two-year deal with the Portland Trail Blazers. The deal with the burly 7-footer was first reported on July 3, but it could not be formally announced by the team until yesterday per NBA rules. The contract is worth a reported $9.8 million. Kaman is expected to back up Robin Lopez with the Blazers.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Steve Blake is coming back to the Trail Blazers. A person with knowledge of the deal who cannot comment until it is formally announced confirmed yesterday that the free agent point guard has signed a two-year deal with Portland. The agreement was first announced by Yahoo! Sports. The contract is worth a reported $4.2 million with a player option for the second year.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – The Hornets have announced they’ve named Chad Buchanan as their assistant general manager. Buchanan spent the last 10 years with the Portland Trail Blazers, the last seven working as the director of college scouting. Buchanan also served as Portland’s acting general manager from 2011-12.
