NEAHKAHNIE, Ore. (AP) – A wildfire has damaged four homes on a hillside above an Oregon coast beach. KPTV reports that five fire agencies responded to the fire at Neahkahnie. Firefighters found flames stretching from the beach up to the homes. Strong winds pushed the fire toward the homes. Two suffered heavy damage while the other two sustained just minor damage.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The new director of Cover Oregon will earn a base salary of $215,000 a year. The Oregonian reports that Aaron Patnode wage will be $30,000 more than his predecessor’s. The former Kaiser Permanente manager will lead a troubled health insurance exchange facing an uncertain future, staff departures and multiple investigations.

TALBOT, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say a 54-year-old Keizer man reported missing on June 8 has been found dead in a field near the Marion County community of Talbot. The body has been identified as Robert Knupp. Knupp’s employer, Garten Services Inc., had offered a reward of as much as $500 for information that helped authorities find him.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A 10-foot boa constrictor who got away from its Salem owner has been located. The sheriff’s office reported late last month since boa constrictors crush their prey, urged residents to be mindful of children and pets until it was found. The sheriff’s office said it appears the female snake crawled through a hole and stayed inside the wall. The owners told deputies they’d bought a better cage.
