Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

CHICAGO (AP) – Hector Noesi (noh-eh-SEE’) pitched five-hit ball into the seventh inning for his first win in a month, leading the Chicago White Sox to a 1-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners yesterday. Noesi struck out five and walked two in 6 2/3 innings, a crisp performance against one of his former teams. The right-hander pitched for Seattle for parts of three seasons before he was cut in April.

CHICAGO (AP) – Second base umpire Dana DeMuth left the game between Seattle and Chicago after colliding with White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham in the fifth inning. Beckham ran into DeMuth when he went to catch a throw from center fielder Adam Eaton after Brad Miller took a wide turn around first after a one-out single for Seattle.

CHICAGO (AP) – Seattle ace Felix Hernandez has been pushed back a day to Friday’s series opener against AL West-leading Oakland. Hernandez’s next turn was slated for Thursday, but manager Lloyd McClendon says he wants his best pitcher going up against the A’s. Hernandez pitched eight solid innings in Seattle’s 3-2 victory against the White Sox on Saturday.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) – Garrett Richards won his sixth decision in seven starts and had a career-high 11 strikeouts yesterday, leading the surging Angels to a 6-1 victory over the Houston Astros and completing a four-game sweep that extended Los Angeles’ home winning streak to 10 games. Albert Pujols (POO’-hohlz) drove in the Angels’ first two runs with a bases-loaded single and Kole Calhoun homered.
