HOUSTON (AP) – Robinson Cano and Kyle Seager had three RBIs apiece, James Jones added two and a seven-run sixth inning propelled the Seattle Mariners to score a season high in a 13-2 win over the Houston Astros last night. Cano drove in two to give Seattle the lead in the first and hit the first of the five doubles in the sixth inning that tied a franchise mark and pushed the lead to 10-1.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Stephen Strasburg bounced back from his worst outing of the season with 7 2-3 dominant innings, and Jayson Werth had two doubles and three RBIs in the Washington Nationals’ 7-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies last night. The Rockies didn’t get a runner past second until DJ LeMahieu’s homer in the eighth. Christian Friedrich (0-3) allowed five runs in 3 1-3 innings for Colorado, which has lost 13 of 15.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – Organizers of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race say 60 mushers have signed up for the 2015 race so far. Organizers say 36 mushers signed up at Iditarod Trail Committee headquarters in Wasilla on Saturday, the opening day of registration. Another 24 mushers registered by mail for the 1,000-mile race. The 2015 race is scheduled to start March 7.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Portland Meadows racetrack has ended its two-year experiment with summer racing. Oregon’s only commercial horse racing track moved to a summer schedule in 2012 and used a retro-themed advertising campaign to make huge gains in attendance. The move to summer also put the track in competition for horses with Emerald Downs in Seattle.
