Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The state Parks and Recreation Commission has added a 12th ride to the Oregon Scenic Bikeways program. Commissioners have approved the Cascading Rivers Scenic Bikeway – a 70-mile route between Estacada and Detroit. Launched in 2005, the Oregon Scenic Bikeways program now encompasses more than 860 miles.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – Hillsboro police say a bicyclist who collided with a light rail train suffered serious head injuries last night. Officers say the man was riding southbound on the sidewalk of Southeast 10th Avenue when he ran into the side of a westbound train. The man was not run over by the train but fell onto the roadway.

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) – Crook County doesn’t have enough jail cells for all of its crooks. So, inmates in the small Central Oregon county being held for trial are released quickly, and even inmates convicted and sentenced can catch a break. Sheriff Jim Hensley said he has a waiting list of 120 people the jail can’t hold. KTVZ-TV reports just last week, 14 inmates were released early, among them people charged with drug offenses and burglaries.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Marion County sheriff’s office isn’t the first place someone typically calls over a lost pet. But since this case involves a 10-foot-long red tail boa constrictor missing for four days in a Salem neighborhood, deputies responded quickly and searched for the reptile. The deputies’ search turned up no signs of the snake so they’re asking residents to keep a close eye on pets and small children.
