The Three Rivers Sandblasters picked up their first win of the season yesterday afternoon in Stayton, but fell in three other games over the weekend.

Things started Saturday in Dallas where they fell to the DeMarini Dirtbags 17-12, then 8-4.

Yesterday’s win came in the opener of a twin-bill against the Canyon Crushers, 6-5. The Crushers opened game two with six runs in the first inning and then held on for a 12-6 win in the nightcap.

The Sandblasters take on the Withnell Dodgers this evening in Salem.

Northwest League Baseball

The Eugene Emeralds wrapped up their three-game sweep of the Boise Hawks Friday night in Eugene with a 9-5 win. Saturday, they headed out to the Tri-Cities where the Emeralds came out on top of the Dust Devils 6-1. Yesterday, Devils’ first baseman David Bergin smacked a three-run homer over the left-field wall in the bottom of the eighth to lift Tri-City to the 6-4 win. Game three of the five game series is tonight in Pasco.
