ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) – Firefighters in the southern Oregon community of Roseburg say a woman has survived a car crash off a 30-foot cliff into the Umpqua River. KVAL-TV reports that although the car landed upside down in the river yesterday, the driver was able to free herself and climb back up to the road. Medics treated her for non-life-threatening injuries and took her to a hospital for additional evaluation.

JUNCTION CITY, Ore. (AP) – Police in Junction City say a 26-year-old woman is reported in critical condition with a gunshot wound and a man has been taken in for questioning. Police Chief Mark Chase tells KVAL-TV that the man is the woman’s fiance. Police checked the home yesterday after getting a call from someone concerned about the woman’s well-being.

SHERWOOD, Ore. (AP) – Police in Sherwood chased six runaway sheep on foot and in patrol cars after the animals escaped from the back of a trailer. The Oregonian reports that police say the sheep were first spotted yesterday near a Safeway store. Off they went – to an ice arena, back to Safeway, across a highway and through a shopping center. Officers managed to round them up within a half hour and loaded them back into the trailer.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – UC Irvine upset No. 1 national seed Oregon State 4-2 last night to win the NCAA Corvallis baseball regional. The Anteaters advance to the super regional round for the fourth time in school history, and will face Oklahoma State. Jake Thompson gave up three runs on four hits in the loss for the Beavers.
