Marbas Repeats as Athlete of the Week

Siuslaw Track and Field standout Mack Marbas is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the week. Running for the final time as a Siuslaw Viking, he captured two state titles at the OSAA 4A Track and Field Finals. Marbas won the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:58.47; plus the 3,000 meter in a school record time of 8:42.75.

Honorable mention… Senior Thrower Ashlee Cole who captured third place in the girls’ javelin at the OSAA meet with a school record throw of 133-feet, 4-inches.

Beavers Number One Seed

The matchups in the regional round of play in the NCAA Baseball playoffs were announced yesterday with Oregon State getting the overall number one seed. The Beavers will face North Dakota State Friday in the opening game of the Corvallis Regional. U-C Irvine and UNLV will be the other two teams there.

Oregon, meanwhile, is unseeded, but will play Clemson in the Nashville regional that includes Vanderbilt and Xavier.
