SEATTLE (AP) – Kyle Seager hit a three-run homer with one out in the bottom of the ninth and the Seattle Mariners rallied for a 5-3 win over the Houston Astros yesterday to snap an eight-game losing streak. Seager homered for his second straight at-bat after being mired in a slump for most of the season.

UNDATED (AP) – LaMarcus Aldridge scored 43 points and Damian Lillard made six free throws down the stretch to give the Portland Trail Blazers a 112-105 win over the Houston Rockets last night and a 2-0 lead in the first-round playoff series. Aldridge became the first player with consecutive 40-point games in the playoffs since LeBron James in May of 2009 after scoring a career-high and franchise playoff-record 46 in an overtime win in Game 1.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks will open their title defense on Sept. 4, against the Green Bay Packers. The Seahawks announced their 2014 schedule yesterday. It will be the first meeting with Green Bay since Seattle’s disputed Hail Mary win over the Packers in 2012. The Seahawks travel to San Francisco on Thanksgiving night, and host the 49ers two weeks later.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – The Seattle Seahawks have signed former cornerback Marcus Trufant, who is expected to announce his retirement from football. Seattle announced the signing yesterday and said Trufant was expected to announce his intentions during a news conference today.
