The money will be transferred from the district’s general fund to a special revenue fund.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Department of Agriculture says the thousands of honey bees found dead along Highway 99 in Sherwood may have been hit by cars. A department spokesman says an investigator found about 30 commercial hives on a nearby lot with a vacant house. The investigator also sent some of the dead bees to Oregon State University, where an expert will check them for pesticides, disease and parasites.

ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division says the reward for information that helps solve the shooting of a fawn last month near Roseburg has grown to $5,500. Wildlife officials say the Humane Society groups have offered $5,000 for information leading to the conviction of those responsible. The fawn was shot late on the night of March 28 and its body was left in a roadside ditch.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Humane Society says nearly 60 cats and kittens that had been living in a Newberg, Ore., apartment have been rescued and taken to the society’s shelter in Portland.
