PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Will Barton had a career-high 23 points and 10 rebounds and the Portland Trail Blazers downed the Los Angeles Clippers 110-104 in the regular-season finale last night, with both teams resting key players in advance of the playoffs. Seeded fifth in the Western Conference, Portland will face the Rockets in a first-round series starting Sunday in Houston.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – The Seattle Mariners placed outfielder Logan Morrison and right-handed starter Blake Beavan on the 15-day disabled list, and recalled second baseman Nick Franklin and James Jones from Triple-A Tacoma. Beavan left Tuesday’s game after four innings with what was diagnosed as shoulder tendinitis.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Leonys Martin had a game-winning RBI single in the ninth inning as the Texas Rangers scored two unearned runs in a two-out rally against Fernando Rodney, beating the Seattle Mariners 3-2 last night in a game that started as a battle of aces. Mariners ace Felix Hernandez struck out nine and had retired 10 in a row before Martin’s leadoff triple in the eighth ended the big right-hander’s night. Yu Darvish struck out eight in seven innings for the Rangers.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – The Seattle Seahawks and wide receiver Sidney Rice have agreed to terms on a deal. Rice returns to Seattle after spending the last three seasons with the Seahawks. Rice was released by Seattle in February in a salary-driven move. He was scheduled to make $8.5 million this season under his previous contract. Terms of his new deal were not disclosed.
