PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police are looking for a police dog who may have been injured in a shooting that also left an officer and a suspect wounded. The suspect was arrested after a manhunt in southwest Portland early this morning. He and the officer were both hospitalized. The Oregonian reports police exchanged shots with the suspect about 3 a.m. after a traffic stop.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – After years of layoffs or weak hiring, many school districts in Oregon are hiring teachers. The organizer of a Portland job fair for educators, Jim Buck, predicts districts will hire at least 2,000 this spring and summer. The Oregonian reports that Portland Public Schools plan to hire nearly 400 teachers this spring.

BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) – A Vancouver man and his wife are accused of promoting prostitution, and the man faces additional charges for a police chase yesterday that caused several crashes in Beaverton. Police say they followed the couple after they dropped off a 17-year-old girl at a Beaverton hotel. When they tried to pull over the vehicle it sped off, hitting a couple of cars and crashing through fence.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A federal jury has sided with a Eugene man whose car was towed after a traffic stop. The jury in Eugene last week ordered Lane County to pay Donald Long more than $25,000 for violating his constitutional rights. The Register-Guard reports a sheriff’s deputy improperly seized his car after a traffic stop.
