Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – State economists say Oregon’s labor market is tightening. Data released yesterday show that employers reported 10,000 more job vacancies than they did a year ago and more trouble finding the right candidates. That led to a boost in wages. Nearly all of the 10,000 additional job vacancies were attributed to companies with fewer than 100 employees.

JEFFERSON, Ore. (AP) – Marion County sheriff’s deputies say a driver crashed into a train before daybreak, ran from his burning car and asked neighbors for a place to sleep. The sheriff’s department reports that 24-year-old Kyle Randall was arrested on a drunken driving charge after the neighbors called officers.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Multnomah County, Ore., sheriff’s spokesman says river patrol deputies responding to a report of a body in the Columbia River in the Portland area spotted another body floating mid-channel in the nearby Willamette River. The bodies – both adult men – have been recovered. The bodies have been turned over to the Multnomah County medical examiner’s office. They were not immediately identified.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A 42-year-old former Lake County sheriff’s deputy has been accused of sexually abusing a 17-year-old Lakeview girl reported missing late last week. The Oregon State Police say the girl got in touch with authorities Sunday afternoon and was returned to her family. Earlier this month, as an investigation began, Kenneth Turkle resigned from the sheriff’s department.
