Prep Track and Field

There were teams from eight schools in competition on the track yesterday in Waldport.  The boys’ team from Mapleton finished in third, the girls fourth.  The Sailors were powered by 800 meter winner Chris Free and their 4-by-100 relay team.  But, it was Tucker Ford who picked up the most points for Mapleton, finishing 2nd in the 3-thousand and High Jump, as well as third in the 15-hundred and fifth in the javelin.  For the girls, Maddy Frelich won the 200 meters, the 100 meter hurdles and the javelin.

College Baseball

On the diamond… Oregon scored 9 runs in the first inning, then held on for a 15-10 win over the Portland Pilots yesterday in Eugene.  The two teams meet again this evening in Portland.
