Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – The number of people requiring housing services in Josephine County has spiked, particularly among youth and single-father populations. The Daily Courier reports the uptick comes with the caveat that yearly homeless surveys reflect homelessness at a point in time, and may not reflect the degree of the change. Still, those who work with the homeless report seeing more younger men, and more youths overall. Kelly Wessels of United Community Action Network says the rule barring men from staying with children presses more men to opt for remaining homeless and keeping their family intact.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – The defense attorney for a teenager accused of plotting to bomb West Albany High School will ask to exclude all evidence obtained by police, including interviews. The Corvallis Gazette-Times reports attorney Jennifer Nash called the searches and interviews of the 17-year-old Grant Acord illegal. A hearing is scheduled for May 27, six days before Acord’s trial.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A famous therapy horse that helped dozens of Salem children with special needs has died. The horse, named Red, was memorialized Saturday at Love Reins Ranch in west Salem. He was 38-years-old. The Statesman Journal reports the equine therapy center serves special-needs children.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Users of medical marijuana in Oregon are undergoing added scrutiny if they purchase the drug from one of the newly licensed dispensaries. For example, customers have to provide matching photo ID before being buzzed through a locked door to an inner sanctum where the marijuana is kept. Security cameras record each transaction.
