ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) – James Paxton pitched seven scoreless innings of two-hit ball and Robinson Cano drove in his first run for the Seattle Mariners last night in an 8-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels, completing a three-game sweep in the team’s first series under new manager Lloyd McClendon. Hector Santiago (0-1) was charged with four runs, four hits and three walks in five-plus innings.

PHOENIX (AP) – Darren Collison and Blake Griffin scored 23 points apiece and the Los Angeles Clippers rallied from a 17-point third-quarter deficit to beat the Phoenix Suns 112-108 last night. Chris Paul added 20 points, including a 32-foot 3-pointer just before the shot clock was to expire to put the Clippers up for good 108-106 with 1:48 to play.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – Rudy Gay scored nine of his 31 points in the fourth quarter, Ray McCallum had 27 points and the Sacramento Kings beat the Los Angeles Lakers 107-102 last night. Jodie Meeks scored 21 points and Jordan Hill had 18 points and 15 rebounds before fouling out late in the fourth quarter for the Lakers. Los Angeles lost its second straight and fourth in five games.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Drew Doughty and Anze Kopitar scored power-play goals, Jonathan Quick made 17 saves in his sixth shutout of the season, and the Los Angeles Kings clinched a playoff spot with a 4-0 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes last night. Kopitar, Jeff Carter and rookie Tanner Pearson each had a goal and an assist for the surging Kings.
