UNDATED (AP) – Authorities say the explosion that hit a liquefied natural gas storage facility in Eastern Washington earlier this week threw 250-pound pieces of steel up to 300 yards through the air. A Benton County sheriff’s Deputy says it was a miracle that no one was killed. The Monday blast inside a processing plant at the Williams Northwest Pipeline LNG storage facility outside Plymouth, Wash., injured five people.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Authorities are investigating the death of a 60-year-old man whose body was found yesterday off a trail near the community of Olene in Klamath County. Oregon State Police say the man was dropped off Monday at the OC&E Woods Line State Trail. There were no signs of foul play and an autopsy will be performed.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – A federal auditing agency has upheld a challenge to a U.S. Forest Service contract for two next-generation air tankers to fight wildfires. But what that means for the federal air tanker fleet this summer is not yet clear. The Government Accountability Office says the Forest Service should either bolster its justification for considering just one company or redo the bidding. A Forest Service spokeswoman says the agency is evaluating that choice.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon’s Supreme Court has upheld the title and summary for a referendum to restore driving privileges for people who can’t prove they’re legally in the United States. The referendum remains titled: Provides Oregon resident “driver card” without requiring proof of legal presence in the United States.
