Siuslaw Track and Field Standout Joseph Dotson is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week.  The Viking Junior finished second at the Sweet Home Decathlon with 4,927 points and top-five finishes in five of the ten events.  His best mark of the day was a personal best time of 54.30 seconds and 1st place in the 400 meter… the eighth fastest time in the 4A so far this year.

Honorable Mention is given to Mikaela Siegel, she also competed at Sweet Home and captured fifth in the Heptathlon with 3,374 points and a victory in the 100-meter hurdles where she improved on last week’s personal best time of 16.79 seconds.  It was also an improvement in her best time in the 4A so far this year by .19-seconds.

Far West Baseball and Softball

On the diamond today… after a minimal pre-season the Far West League Season is set to get underway for Viking baseball and softball… the Lady Vikings will be at home for softball against the South Umpqua Lancers at five… Siuslaw Baseball will be in Myrtle Creek where they’ll take on South Umpqua.  That game will air on Coast Radio Sports beginning at 4:45… first pitch at five.

On the college diamond

Oregon State is in the Rose City today where they’ll take on the Portland Pilots for non-league baseball.  Oregon is in Spokane for the first of two games against Gonzaga.
