PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) – Mark Reynolds homered for the second straight day, one of five Milwaukee Brewers to connect in a 9-7 victory yesterday over the Seattle Mariners, who got Robinson Cano back after a five-day absence. Cano left the team late last week to attend to personal business in the Dominican Republic, and went 1 for 4 with two RBIs. Cano has a hit in nine of 10 spring training games and is batting .556.

MILWAUKEE (AP) – No. 7 seed Oregon takes on 10th-seeded BYU in the NCAA tournament today in a rematch of a wild December game won by the Ducks. Oregon trailed by 10 early in the second half, and then rallied for a 100-96 overtime victory over BYU. Reserve Jason Calliste led the way with a career-high 31 points. BYU will be without playmaking guard Kyle Collinsworth, who tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the WCC tournament.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Ya Ya Anderson scored 23 points, including seven 3-pointers, to lead Radford past Oregon State 96-92 in the opening round of the College Basketball Invitational last night. It was the Highlanders’ first NCAA Division I postseason win. Javonte Green and R.J. Price added 20 points each for Radford, (22-12, 10-6 Big South), which built a large early lead thanks to red-hot shooting and held off Oregon State rallies in the second half.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Police in Rhode Island are investigating an allegation that two Providence College basketball players sexually assaulted another student on campus in November. Providence police Maj. David Lapatin (lah-PAY’-tin) Lapatin would not name the players, but a defense lawyer says unsubstantiated sex assault allegations were made against players Rodney Bullock and Brandon Austin when they were suspended from play. Austin now attends the University of Oregon.
