He spent nearly three hours buried to his waist in the dirt and mud. The collapse happened in Cedar Hills in Washington County.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – Alaska State Troopers say a 41-year-old Oregon man landed a small plane on a frozen lake in Alaska after his aircraft lost power. Robinson’s hometown was not immediately disclosed.

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – A Pendleton man and his two teenage sons say they found a thirsty, famished Airedale terrier struggling to move in deep snow while snowmobiling in the northeast Oregon backcountry. The East Oregonian reports that Brian Stewart sent his sons back to camp to fetch a sled last Saturday. They loaded the dog and took him back to their camp, where he was able to eat and drink. Then they put him in a tent and turned up the portable heater. The Stewarts are now trying to find the dog’s owner.
