PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – French defender Mikael Silvestre and Major League Soccer’s Portland Timbers have agreed to terminate his contract following an injury shortened season. Silvestre signed with the Timbers last February and made eight league appearances before tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on May 2 during a game against New England. The agreement to end the deal for the 36-year-old player was announced Monday.

PORTLAND, OR. (AP) – Zach Randolph scored 23 points and had 10 rebounds and Mike Conley added 10 points and seven assists to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 98-81 victory against the Portland Trail Blazers last night. Marc Gasol had 15 points and eight rebounds and Courtney Lee scored 12 points for the Grizzlies (23-20), who have won three straight and seven of eight. Portland fell to 18-5 at home.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – David West scored 19 points, Lance Stephenson had 15 points and 14 rebounds, and the Indiana Pacers wrapped up a five-game road trip with a 104-92 victory over the spiraling Los Angeles Lakers last night. George Hill had 13 points and seven rebounds for the Pacers, who stayed atop the overall NBA standings despite losing twice on their West Coast trip.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) – Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored two goals, Thomas Greiss stopped 30 shots and the Phoenix Coyotes kicked off an important five-game homestand with a 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings last night. Antoine Vermette had a goal and an assist.
