PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say a woman was seriously injured as she jumped out of a moving vehicle to escape a kidnapper in the Portland suburb of Milwaukie. The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office says the woman told deputies she had been working alone at a tanning salon when a man assaulted her and then forced her outside to a purple minivan. She was able to escape as the man drove.

KEIZER, Ore. (AP) – Emergency crews in Keizer, Ore., have rescued a driver who was trapped after a car ran off a road, down an embankment and into a creek. KATU-TV reports the crash happened yesterday morning. Emergency workers had to clear brush from the hillside before they could reach the driver. The unidentified driver was taken to a hospital.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say two people were shot and wounded last night in downtown Portland and one of them has been taken into custody. Sgt. Pete Simpson says officers responding to a report of a shooting found a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. They found and detained a suspect.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Beaverton School District says an anonymous family is donating $4.4 million to improve Sunset High School’s baseball, softball and other athletic practice fields. Sunset High’s athletic director told The Oregonian that the family came forward to express an interest in helping. The work includes install synthetic turf to create athletic fields that can be used all year. Construction is expected to start in June.
