PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A federal grand jury has indicted eight Portland men accused of transporting women across state lines to engage in prostitution. One of the men is Mark “Meezilini” Miles, who is accused of taking Ivy Harris to Hawaii last spring. The 29-year-old Harris was killed during the visit and a Marine is awaiting trial on a murder charge. The indictments unsealed yesterday stem from an FBI-led enforcement called “Operation Traffic Stop.” Besides Hawaii, prosecutors say the prostitutes were taken to Alaska, Idaho, Minnesota and Nevada.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A woman accused of taking part in ecoterrorism firebombings has been sentenced to five years in prison. Rebecca Rubin pleaded guilty to conspiracy and arson in October. U.S. District Judge Ann Aiken in Portland, Ore., said that Rubin showed contrition and lived in “an emotional prison cell” during her seven years as a fugitive in Canada. She eventually surrendered to the FBI for her role with the Earth Liberation Front.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police in Oregon say a drug dog led them to 31 pounds of methamphetamine packed in a suitcase in a car that officers stopped on Interstate 84.
