PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon official who oversaw most of the development of the state’s troubled health insurance exchange has resigned due to “personal reasons.” The leaders of the Oregon Health Authority and the Department of Human Services sent a memo to staff yesterday saying Chief Information Officer Carolyn Lawson has stepped down. Lawson handed off control of the exchange in May.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Police arrested a 42-year-old Cottage Grove man accused of killing and abusing the corpse of his ex-girlfriend. David Bowen’s arrest comes more than two weeks after 55-year-old Tammy Borda did not return to Beaverton as expected. According to The Register-Guard, prosecutors say the alleged crime occurred on or about Dec. 2. They also say that Bowen carried away the corpse after Borda was killed.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A morning fire has destroyed an Eagle Point barn. The Mail Tribune reports crews arrived shortly after 6 yesterday morning to find a fully engulfed structure, and focused on preventing the fire’s spread to nearby wildland. No injuries have been reported.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -Creditors are trying to force a McMinnville, Ore.-based airline into involuntary bankruptcy. The Oregonian reports the creditors filed a summons yesterday under Chapter 7 of the U.S. bankruptcy code. Evergreen International Airlines Inc. founder and chief executive Delford Smith told the newspaper he wasn’t aware of the Chapter 7 filing. He said he thinks a better approach would be the bankruptcy code’s Chapter 11. That would allow the company to be reorganized rather than liquidated.
