SALEM, Ore. (AP) – State Police say a 74-year-old woman was struck and killed last night as she was walking across Highway 51 in Polk County. Troopers say the woman was using a walker as she crossed the road when she was struck by an SUV driven by a 21-year-old woman. Police say the conditions were dark and there is no overhead street lighting where the pedestrian was hit in front of her home.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say detectives investigating a string of bank robberies last weekend in the Portland metro area were at a bank last night when two suspects held up the bank in their presence. Robbery detectives arrested two men as they tried to escape from the bank inside the Fred Meyer store. A 20-year-old and a 29-year-old are held in the Multnomah County Jail.

ODELL, Ore. (AP) – Damage is estimated at nearly $2 million from a fire that burned a stack of fruit bins at Diamond Fruit Growers in Odell. KPTV reports more than 10,000 bins burned and each was worth $150. The Monday night fire left a charred mess of plastic. The cause of the blaze is under investigation. Diamond Fruit Growers is a cooperative of pear and cherry orchardists in the Hood River Valley.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Five players scored in double figures as Oregon State ran past Southern Illinois University Edwardsville 101-81 in Corvallis last night. Devon Collier led the Beavers with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Oregon State shot 64 percent from the field.
