GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – More than 50 homes remain under an evacuation order and a third home is believed to have burned in a wildfire outside The Dalles in the Columbia River Gorge. But fire crews report progress in fighting the blaze that threatens several dozen other homes. Two homes and five other structures burned earlier in the Government Flat Complex fires.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) – Police in the southern Oregon city of Klamath Falls have fatally shot a man they say was suspected of stealing a car. Klamath County District Attorney Rob Patridge says officers responded Tuesday to investigate a report of a stolen vehicle and a suspect who also had an outstanding felony warrant. The district attorney says officers got into a confrontation with the man as they tried to arrest him and 52-year-old Matthew David Borner of Klamath Falls was fatally shot.

TERREBONNE, Ore. (AP) – A Deschutes County sheriff’s spokesman says a body was found floating in the Crooked River north of Terrebonne in central Oregon. Sgt. Troy Gotchy said in a statement that more than 25 people from the sheriff’s office Search and Rescue unit and the Crooked River Fire Department worked for more than seven hours to recover the body yesterday.

TOLLGATE, Ore. (AP) – State police have identified the woman who died in a crash involving a log truck near Tollgate, Ore., as 69-year-old Luby Carol Teem of Elgin. Teem was driving on Highway 204 Monday when a log truck driven by a Goldendale, Wash., man tipped over and dropped its load into the path of Teem’s vehicle.
