The man who shot him is still on the loose, but Lincoln City police officer Steven Dodds is back to work.  Dodds has endured several surgeries and fought through the recovery process since he was shot January 23rd during a traffic stop.  He returned to work this week on a limited basis.

He’s been an inspiration to those around him says Lieutenant Jerry Palmer.

205 – “It was a huge lift to the entire department and city’s morale here to see him back on duty and let alone in the physical condition that he’s got himself back into. It’s been a long process, but it’s, it’s been amazing to see how hard he’s worked and how far he’s come.”

The shooting sparked a massive manhunt for David Durham, the Portland man who allegedly shot Dodds, then led police on a chase south on Highway 101 through Newport before abandoning his car.  The area just north of Waldport was locked down for several days but no trace of Durham was ever found.  The FBI has posted a $10-thousand reward for information leading to his capture.
