Northwest League Baseball

The Eugene Emeralds took an early lead, lost it, then reclaimed it in the bottom of the ninth inning to edge the Boise Hawks 5-4 last night at PK Park in Eugene.

Ronnie Richardson was four-for-four with a stolen base and one run scored in the effort, but it was Trae Santos that followed a Hunter Renfroe double in the ninth with a two-out single up the middle that scored Renfroe and ended the game.

The win gave the Emeralds the 2-1 edge in the three game series.  They’ll host the Vancouver Canadians for five games beginning this evening.

American Legion Super Regional Play

The Three Rivers Sandblasters will be playing to stay alive this weekend in the East Multnomah County Super Regional in Sandy.  The double-elimination tournament runs through Sunday and also includes Redmond and Salem’s Withnell.  The winner advances to the American Legion State Tournament in Medford next week where they would open against the Area Three champion Canyon Crushers.
