Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

UNDATED (AP) – The federal agencies responsible for making Columbia Basin hydroelectric dams safer for salmon say they’re doing a good job. But conservation groups say despite spending $600 million a year, the agencies are no closer to getting 13 runs of salmon and steelhead off the threatened and endangered species lists. The agencies say in a draft evaluation released yesterday that their efforts are helping more young fish survive their migration downstream, and producing higher returns among threatened and endangered runs.

MONMOUTH, Ore. (AP) — A motorcycle rider who crashed Wednesday night or early Thursday morning near Monmouth landed in berry bushes and remained there until yesterday afternoon when he was found by a friend. Oregon State Police say the Falls City man was hospitalized in Corvallis with serious injuries. The Oregonian reports friends started searching roads for the man after he missed work and found him about 3 p.m.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) – Authorities in southern Oregon say a man has been arrested in the June 24 death of a 32-year-old Chiloquin man. David Costa was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head at a home east of Agency Lake. The Herald and News reports that a warrant was issued last night for the arrest of Joshua Brown, and that police took him into custody a short time later.

ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) – The Clatsop County district attorney says a Warrenton woman was justified in killing her estranged husband after he broke into her apartment in May. Prosecutors say Bruce Rogers of Astoria was dangerous. The Oregonian reports that Jennifer Livingston, her two teenage daughters and a daughter’s boyfriend locked themselves in a bedroom and stayed on the line with emergency dispatchers. Evidence showed Rogers was fatally shot when he broke through the bedroom door.
