The Eugene Emeralds continued their struggle at home last night, coughing up three errors; leaving seven base runners stranded and managing only six hits in a 9-2 loss to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes.

Two of the Emeralds errors came with two outs in the fourth inning, helping S-K to six runs in the frame.

The two teams meet again tonight in Eugene.

Light penalty for Oregon recruiting violations

The successful Oregon football program has been placed on probation for three years and the Ducks have lost one scholarship for recruiting violations under previous coach Chip Kelly.

The NCAA infractions committee released a report early this morning that found Kelly and the university failed to monitor the program.

Oregon came under NCAA scrutiny after self-reporting violation stemming from payments made to recruiting services; including $25-thousand to Willie Lyles and Houston-based Complete Scouting Services in 2011.
