Hunter Renfroe Hit a three-run homer off the back wall of the left field bullpen, and Mississippi State advanced to the College Baseball World Series finals with a Friday afternoon 4-1 victory over Oregon State.

The Bulldogs are 51-and-18 on the season and beat the Beavers for the second time in the C-W-S and will face the UCLA Bruins in a ‘best of three’ series that begins today in Omaha.

Oregon State was making its first appearance at the finals since winning back to back titles in 06 and 07.   They finished the season with 52 wins, the most ever recorded by the program.

The Eugene Emeralds took two out of three from the Tri City Dust Devils over the weekend.  The Devils won Friday, 4-3; but the Ems came back for an 8-1 win Saturday and a six-run shutout victory yesterday.

No American Legion ball today.  The Three Rivers Sandblasters had been scheduled for two against Post-20 this afternoon but rain got in the way…. Coach David Deutschman said tomorrow’s matchup against Springfield “doesn’t look promising either”.
