PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland Fire and Rescue says a 6-year-old boy fell out a second-story window early last night at a home in southeast Portland. KOIN reports the boy was conscious and breathing when emergency responders took him to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – A 38-year-old Aloha man who coached a girls softball team in Beaverton has been sentenced to five years in prison for sexually abusing a teenage girl. Jeremy Dickey pleaded guilty in Washington County Circuit Court to sex abuse and other charges. The Oregonian reports the victim was not a member of the team he coached. Dickey apologized in court.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The head of Oregon’s Public Health Division, Dr. Mel Kohn, is resigning in August after 14 years in the department, five as director. Kohn earns $175,000 a year and oversees a staff of about 700 with a two-year budget of $500 million.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Corrections Department has appointed Ken Jeske to head the prison industries unit. The 46-year-old has been an administrator at the Oregon Youth Authority. The Oregonian reports he’ll start work in July as co-administrator of Oregon Corrections Enterprises, sharing the duties for six months with retiring Gary Kilmer.
