PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police have arrested a
21-year-old man who escaped from a psychiatric hospital on Sept. 3
while on a supervised walk. The Oregonian reports Matthew Ingle ran
ahead of a group of patients and staff out for a walk on the
hospital’s Salem campus and jumped into a waiting car. He was
convicted of two counts of second-degree manslaughter in a 2009 car
crash.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A former Beaverton middle school math
teacher faces a federal child pornography possession charge. The
Oregonian reports that Logan B. Jack Storm was accused of
duplicating child porn images and storing them on a thumb drive.
His lawyers say the duplication could have happened anywhere. The
indictment came as Multnomah County district moved to dismiss
related state charges in favor of federal prosecution.

OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – Former House Speaker Dave Hunt is
running for chair of the Clackamas County Commission. Hunt says he
will leave the Legislature when his term expires in January 2013.
Hunt helped push through an expansion of children’s health care, a
major transportation spending bill and controversial tax hikes on
businesses and the wealthy.

BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) – Police in the Portland suburb of
Beaverton say alert neighbors helped them make an arrest in the
case of a thief who was wiggling through doggie doors to gain
access to homes. Two houses were hit Sunday afternoon, when the
thief targeted electronic items like video game consoles, iPods and
DVDs. The Oregonian says an 50-year-old man was arrested.
