SEATTLE (AP) – Jason Bay and Michael Morse hit solo home runs, leading the Seattle Mariners over the Los Angeles Angels 2-1 yesterday. The Mariners won three of four from the Angels over the weekend to earn their first series win of the year. Bay tied it in the seventh with his second homer, connecting on the first pitch of the inning from Jason Vargas. Morse put Seattle ahead in the eighth.

SEATTLE (AP) – Seattle Mariners outfielder Michael Saunders could rejoin the team today following a rehab stint with the team’s Triple-A affiliate. Saunders sprained his right shoulder on April 11 and was placed on the 15-day disabled list. He was hurt in the first inning against Houston when he slammed into the right-field wall catching leadoff hitter Jose Altuve’s fly ball.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) – Rodney Wallace scored in the 58th minute, lifting the Portland Timbers to a 3-2 victory over Sporting Kansas City on Saturday. Ryan Johnson had a goal and an assist for Portland, which extended its unbeaten streak to six matches and has won three of its last four. Wallace’s winner came off an assist from Diego Chara. Portland is now 3-1-4.
