SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Police arrested five people who were protesting the slated closure of Salem’s mail-sorting facility. The Statesman Journal reports that yesterday’s protest drew a crowd of about 35 people who carried signs that read “Protect Mail Service” and “No They Can’t Close the Plant.”

CANNON BEACH, Ore. (AP) – School officials in Clatsop County propose closing the elementary school in Cannon Beach as part of a round of budget cuts. Seaside School Superintendent Doug Dougherty said most of the cuts are a result of the steep rise expected in contributions for public employee pensions.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Stephen Curry set a NBA single-season record for 3-pointers with 272 and the Golden State Warriors defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 99-88 yesterday in the season finale for both teams. It was the 13th straight loss for the Blazers, equaling the franchise record set in the 1971-72 season.
