Prep baseball…

Siuslaw came away from the first day of the North Marion tournament with a split… winning the opener, then falling in the nightcap.  Jake Thompson threw a seven-inning-one-hit-17-strikeout-complete game for a three-run shutout of host North Marion.  The Vikings managed five hits in the effort, including a Joe Dotson triple.

The Vikings fell to Hidden Valley 4-1 in the nightcap… a game that was ended early because of darkness.  Ryan Smith took the loss on the mound, throwing all four innings for Siuslaw.  He also led the Vikings 5-hit effort with a double.

Siuslaw will play Valley Catholic today at noon.

On the softball diamond…

The Lady Vikings fell to North Marion 12-2.  They have two games today… noon against Central High School… and then the Canby JV at two.

On the college diamond…

Number 12 Oregon came away from a midweek non-conference game against Portland with a 5-1 win at PK Park.  Mitchell Tolman had a three-run double in the bottom of the seventh to break a 1-1 tie.
