Taking a look at Coast Radio Sports…

Boys’ basketball Friday night… The Siuslaw Vikings couldn’t hang on to a slim first quarter margin and eventually fell to the South Umpqua Lancers, 58 – 40.  In other Far West games; Sutherlin beat Brookings Harbor 59-42; and North Bend downed Douglas 54-31.  That leaves North Bend alone atop the league standings at the midpoint… Sutherlin and South Umpqua tied at 2nd and Siuslaw tied with Brookings at fourth.

In Reedsport, the Braves fell to Myrtle Point 75 – 53.  In a non-league matchup Saturday afternoon, Mapleton lost to Santiam Christian 46 – 29.

For the girls… in Myrtle Creek a 9-nothing run at the start of the third quarter helped the South Umpqua Lancers to a 50-44 win over the Siuslaw Vikings.  Ashlee Cole had 24 points for Siuslaw.  In the other Far West matchups Douglas beat North Bend 46 – 32 and Sutherlin remains undefeated… they downed Brookings-Harbor 54-35.

In Reedsport Myrtle Point beat the Braves 51-36; and in Mapleton Friday night the Lady Sailors edged Eddyville by one… 36-35.

Pac 12 Basketball

The Ducks continued their undefeated start in Pac-12 play.  They held off Washington Saturday afternoon in Eugene 81-76.  E.J. Singler scored 18 points as number 16 Oregon extended their season record to 18-and-2 overall… seven-and-oh in conference play.

Oregon State mounted a late game rally that fell short and the Beavers fell 71 – 68 to Washington State at Gill Coliseum Saturday afternoon.  Ahmad Starks led Oregon State with 17 points and 8 assists.  He was wide of the basket on a potential game-tying three-point try from the top of the arc in the closing seconds.
