Athlete of the Week a hurler and hitter

Siuslaw and Mapleton baseball standout Gabe Simington is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week.  The big sophomore threw six innings of three-hit ball and struck out five in Friday’s Viking victory over the Douglas Trojans.  In other games last week, he hit a long home run and was two-for-two with two doubles… both of which went to the warning track.

Honorable mention is Siuslaw’s Trent Reavis who set a new school record in the Discus with a throw of 160-feet, 2-inches at the Central Coast Invitational.  That eclipsed the previous mark of 158-10 set in 2003 by Josh Thomas.

On the schedule today…

Siuslaw baseball is slated for a home game against South Umpqua at five… if weather and field conditions permit.  The pregame show is on KCST at 4:45.  Viking softball will be in Myrtle Creek for a five o’clock game against the Lancers.

Oregon and Oregon State are set for non-league baseball in Corvallis this afternoon at 5:30.  That game will air on KCFM with the pregame show at 5:00.
