SEATTLE (AP) — Wei-Yin Chen and two relievers fell two outs shy of Miami’s first combined no-hitter and the Marlins one-hit the Seattle Mariners in a 5-0 victory Tuesday night. The Marlins were on the verge of the sixth no-hitter in franchise history when Mitch Haniger lined a one-out double into right-center field off Kyle Barraclough. The right-hander recovered to strike out Robinson Cano and get Nelson Cruz to line out to end it.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Nigel Williams-Goss, who led Gonzaga to its first appearance in the Final Four, said Tuesday that he will skip his senior season and declare for the NBA draft. He will hire an agent, precluding his return to Gonzaga. The second team All-American led Gonzaga in scoring last year (16.8 points per game) as the top-seeded Zags advanced to the NCAA title game, where they lost to North Carolina. The decision by Williams-Goss means that three of Gonzaga’s five starters and a key contributor from last year are gone.

Oregon junior forward Jordan Bell has become the latest Ducks player to declare for the NBA Draft. Bell made his announcement on Tuesday on the website riselongbeach.com. The Long Beach, California, native says he plans to hire an agent, which would end his eligibility. Bell joins Dillon Brooks and Tyler Dorsey, who both have also declared for the draft since the end of the season.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Golden State’s Kevin Durant missed practice because of a strained left calf and is questionable for Wednesday’s Game 2 against Portland, who again will be without center Jusuf Nurkic. The Warriors, who won Game 1 on Sunday, also listed Shaun Livingston as questionable with a sprained right index finger and bruised hand, while forward Matt Barnes is questionable with a sprained right ankle and foot.

CARSON, Calif. (AP) — The LA Galaxy have claimed forward Jack McInerney off waivers from the Portland Timbers. The Galaxy made the move Tuesday. McInerney has scored 43 goals while playing for four teams in his Major League Soccer career.
