Pac-12 Baseball underway

Top ranked Oregon State baseball scored two runs in the first inning; Luke Heimlich and Max Engelbrekt combined for a two-hitter; and the Beavers held on for a two-run shutout win over Arizona State yesterday afternoon in Phoenix to open play in the Pac-12.  It was the third straight year the Beavs have opened conference play with a win over the Sun Devils.  The two teams continue their three game series today and tomorrow.  Today’s game airs on KCFM with the pregame show at 3:30… airtime tomorrow is at 11:30.

Oregon will open Pac-12 play this evening in Berkeley against the Cal Bears.  They play again tomorrow and Sunday.

Ducks at the “dance”

On the court… the Oregon men open play in the NCAA tournament at 11 this morning against the Gaels of Iona… the pregame show with Jerry Allen is at 10:30 on KCST.  A win would put them against either Creighton or Rhode Island on Sunday.

For the women, Oregon State will take on Long Beach State tonight in Corvallis in the opening game of the Stockton, California regional.  A win would pit the Beavers against either Creighton or Toledo on Sunday.   The Oregon women are in the dance for the first time in 12 years.  They’ll play Temple tomorrow afternoon.  The winner of that game would face number two seed Duke… or 15th seeded Hampton… on Monday.
