OSU starts 4-0

Oregon State started off the baseball pre-season with four wins over the weekend in Surprise, Arizona… The Beavers had two wins Friday, a 1-nothing shutout victory over Indiana, followed by a 6-3 victory over Duke.

The weather kept the teams off the diamond Saturday, but on Sunday Oregon State beat the Blue Devils once again, this time 11-2.  Monday they capped the weekend with a 4-1 victory again over Indiana.

Jake Thompson, a fifth year senior out of Siuslaw High School, earned the win in two games… both against Indiana.  Friday he threw three pitches in relief, but was the pitcher of record for the win.  Monday he struck out eight hitters for the win over the Hoosiers.

Oregon splits with Fresno State

The Ducks were on the diamond over the weekend in Fresno and came away with a 2-and-2 record.  Fresno State claimed the first two games 9-1 and 8-3.  Sunday, the Ducks won game three 13-1, then evened the series last night with a 3-2 victory.
