Athlete of the Week
Siuslaw Volleyball standout Maci Wells is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week. The Viking Libero was active on the court in last week’s Far West League playoff win over the Douglas Trojans, returning several difficult serves and keeping the ball in play to extend rallies.
Honorable mention is given to Siuslaw cross country runner Jack Pickell who won the “Run for the Brownies” 3-kilometer last week at Sandpines with a time of 10-minutes, 11-seconds.
Vikings vs Cheesemakers
The game time is not yet set, but the Siuslaw Vikings know who and where they’ll be playing in the opening round of the OSAA 4A volleyball playoffs this Saturday.
The Tillamook Cheesemakers beat Stayton in three sets last Saturday. The Cheesemakers are the third place team from the Cowapa (kuh-WOPP-uh) League but are ranked number 5 overall in the state. The Vikings are the Far West League champions, but are ranked 15th.
Saturday’s match will be in the early afternoon… and it will be broadcast on KCFM 104.1, AM 1250.
