MILTON-FREEWATER, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State Police say a man has been arrested after a stabbing left a 24-year-old woman dead and their two young children injured. Milton-Freewater police found the couple, a 2-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl suffering from stab wounds at a home in Milton-Freewater Thursday morning.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Portland school district says tests have found high levels of lead in drinking water at two schools. OPB-FM reports that the district found elevated lead levels six of 56 drinking fountains and other water sources that were tested this spring at Creston K-8.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The leader of a wildlife refuge occupation in Oregon has retained a new lawyer to defend him against a federal conspiracy charge. The Oregonian/OregonLive reports that Ammon Bundy has hired J. Morgan Philpot, a former Utah state representative who was born in Oregon. The federal case against more than two dozen people stems from the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge earlier this year. Bundy has pleaded not guilty.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A Portland defense attorney has been arrested on suspicion of heroin and methamphetamine possession. The Oregonian/OregonLive reports 46-year-old Jeffrey Milstein was arrested Wednesday at the Clackamas County Courthouse.
