State Wrestling Meet Updates

Noon update for State Wrestling Meet:

Siuslaw 113 pounder Richard Huff and 126 pound Murray Bingham are headed to the consolation side of their brackets at the OSAA 4A State Wrestling finals in Portland. Huff lost a 6-nothing decision to #3 seed Jace Hays of Baker this morning. Bingham, a freshman, was pinned by senior Justin Coon from Tillamook High School 33-seconds into the first round. Coon is the number five seed.

Talamoa Tupua, the sixth seed at 152 is also on the consolation side. He lost by fall at the 2:31 mark to Mason Walker of Elmira.

Senior Dylan Jennings, the number one seed at 220 is scheduled to go up against Bronson Holthusen of Astoria this hour.

The meet continues through tomorrow evening at Portland’s Memorial Coliseum.

 

 

5.6 PM update for State Wrestling Meet

Siuslaw’s Dylan Jennings pinned his first opponent in the 220 pound weight class in 1:53 this afternoon to advance to the second round of the OSAA 4A State Wrestling Championships. Jennings, the number one seed in his weight class, will face Dalton Doerfler of Sweet Home this evening.

In the consolation bracket, Richard Huff lost his first match this morning at 113 pounds, then defeated Dawson Dollarhide of Baker 14-3 to advance to the next level.

Murray Bingham was eliminated from competition at 126. The freshman lost to Justin Coon this morning in his opening match, then fell by a “technical fall” to Orrin Ouska of Yamhill Carlton this afternoon.

Talamoa Tupua lost to Mason Walker of Elmira in his first match of the day at 152 pounds. We’re still waiting for results of his consolation round match against James Howell of Philomath.
