Oregon State bounces back for a “Surprise” victory

Caleb Hamilton’s three RBI triple in the top of the eighth inning proved to be the game winner as Number Five Oregon State overcame two late Kansas State leads for a 7-5 win yesterday afternoon at Surprise Stadium. The Beavers and the Wildcats meet again today at noon with Florence’s Jake Thompson on the mound for the Beavers. Oregon State will take on the Kansas Jayhawks tomorrow and Sunday.

Oregon broke a 5-5 tie with three runs in the bottom of the seventh at PK Park last night, then held on for an 8-5 win over Illinois State. The Ducks are now 4-0 on the young season and will face the Redbirds again three more times through the weekend including this evening.

Pac-12 basketball

On the court, Oregon will host Washington Sunday evening at 5:30 at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene. That game will air on KCST with the pregame show set for five.

Oregon State will host Washington State tomorrow at 3:30. The pregame show on KCFM is set for three.

Prep Sports – Wrestling and Bowling

Siuslaw wrestlers are on the mats today at the OSAA 4A State Finals in Portland. Richard Huff is up first for the Vikings at 113 pounds, followed by Murray Bingham at 126; Talamoa Tupua at 152; and the number one seed at 220, Dylan Jennnings.

Back to the hardwood… of the bowling lanes. The District Four bowling champion Siuslaw boys and the third place Viking girls are at the State Championships this weekend in Klamath Falls. They’re led by district All Stars Abby Coday and Evan Johnson.
