PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Vancouver restaurant accused of racially discriminating against a Multnomah County sheriff’s deputy says their decision to make him prepay for his meal was a matter of policy, not racism. The Oregonian reports that an Elmer’s restaurant representative told state investigators that Eason was asked to prepay for his meal because he sat in the lounge area, where customers had previously left without paying.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A state trooper will receive $50,000 in a settlement with the city of Eugene over his arrest during an Oregon Ducks football game. The Oregonian reports Trooper Marc Boyd’s lawsuit says an officer used excessive force and arrested him without probable cause at Autzen Stadium in 2013. Boyd said he had been singled out in a crowd of unruly fans.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A former Lane County investigator for Federal Public Defenders is suing the agency, saying it has left her vulnerable after providing a violent criminal with her address and other personal information. The Register-Guard reports Toni Pisani’s suit says the agency gave the man documents that included her address and other personal data. Pisani said she came into contact with the man who let her know he has her address.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say a Minnesota man wanted in a child sex abuse case in Eugene has been arrested. The Register-Guard reports William Parker III was jailed in Minnesota on Oct. 19 on a warrant from Eugene. Eugene police say he’ll be extradited back to Lane County. An arrest warrant was issued for Parker this month after the parents of a 16-year-old girl contacted Eugene authorities.
