PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Coast Guard says crews have finished cleaning up 400 gallons of diesel fuel that spilled into the Willamette River north of Portland. Authorities say that all cleanup materials have been removed from the area. The spill came from a fuel barge and was caused by a tank overfill. The barge is owned by Kirby Offshore Marine, which contracted an oil spill response company to handle the cleanup. A temporary floating barrier – called a boom – and absorbent pads were placed around the spill site.
